In this Issue:
Legislative Affairs Chair, Colby Alonso, was invited to
testify on behalf of AFA at a House Homeland Security
Hearing. The topic of
hearing was "Challenging the Status Quo at TSA:
Perspectives on the Future of Transportation Security."
On May 22, 2012, Colby was the LODO on flight 787 from
Paris to Charlotte. The flight was forced to divert to
Bangor, Maine due to a female passenger who claimed to
have been implanted with a suspicious device.
Colby is advocating for Flight Attendants being able to
participate in the Known Crewmember (KCM) Program. Colby
stated, "Flight Attendants should be recognized for the
security and safety our presence ensures, and should
therefore participate in alternative screening. To
support security program efficiency and traveler
convenience, TSA should move quickly to include all
crewmembers in KCM."
