  • Council 89 Reminders

Dear Members,

UNION REPRESENTATION: Section 24 page 5

Please remember, you are entitled to be accompanied by an AFA representative or another flight attendant to any meeting with your supervisor. You are also not required to discuss any matter over the phone or at the gate that may result in any type of discipline or letter being placed in your file. This includes discussions regarding passenger complaints or complaints/reports filed by other employees. You should always contact the local office to seek advice regarding these matters. Your local officers are available to attend meetings at the airport, or if necessary, via conference call.

MORE THAN A THREE HOUR DELAY: Section 10 page 12

"When a flight departure is delayed for more than three (3:00) hours, the flight attendant who is scheduled for such flight shall not be required to stand by and shall be relieved of duty at his/her request, provided that other flight attendants are available to replace him/her without increasing the delay. A flight attendant desiring to be relieved shall remain on duty until the relief flight attendant reports for duty. A flight attendant exercising this option shall forfeit any pay and credit that may be accumulated under Paragraphs J. or K. of this Section."

If you have been told by Flight Attendant Scheduling that your flight is going to be re-crewed because you will become illegal to take the flight, you may be required to remain at the airport until your replacement arrives.

GATE VALET PROCEDURES FOR CREWMEMBER CARRY-ON BAGGAGE: FAM Chapter 5-2-6

Uniformed crewmembers displaying proper ID are permitted to use deadheading crew baggage procedures if sufficient space does not exist in the cabin. Non-uniformed crewmembers use gate check procedures and retrieve bags at baggage claim if cabin stowage areas are full.

To gate valet tag a uniformed crewmembers baggage:

1. Obtain gate valet tag from Gate Agent and attach to baggage
2. Place baggage adjacent to the boarding bridge ramp access door or near airstairs
3. Upon deplaning, retrieve baggage in the boarding bridge/near airstairs

Please remember to obtain a NEW gate valet tag from the Gate Agent prior to boarding your flight. A previously used or laminated tag is not allowed. Each tag has a bar code that must be scanned by the ramp agent to allow USAirways to track your bag in the event it is lost.

If you experience any problems with your gate valet checked bag, please provide our office with the date, flight number, and the station where the issue occurred and we will pass the information along to the appropriate person.

Our local office phone number is 704-527-0325 and the after-hours network number is 1-855-462-3287.

In Solidarity,

Cathy
