Dear Members,

October 2010 - Primaries: Manager-John Petronzi set a 90 hrs MAX (of Company time) in ALL bases. The blocking objective was a window of 75-90 hrs. However, the way the pilot lines are built (separately constructed by aircraft type) some lines were beneath the minimum window and some over.  The Pilot Scheduling Committee built lines as follows:

CLT    A319    75-90

CLT    FAD    70-85

DCA    B737   75-90

PHL    A319   70-85

PHL    A330   70-85

CLT    B737   75-90

CLT    A330               70-85

DCA    A319   75-90

PHL    B737   70-85

PHL    E190    80-95

CLT    76I       75-90

PHL    76I       75-90

PHL     FAD     75-90

Lines Less 75: Flight attendants awarded a line for less than 75:00 can come in with such value. Or, the affected flight attendants could SAP upward to 90 hrs of Company time (including vacation time) to increase his/her flying time for the month.  When SAP is utilized the increased post SAP line value would be his/her new obligation including vacation time.

Lines Over 90:  Flight attendants awarded lines over 90 can come in with between 85 - 90 hrs, not to include ETB time.  Such affected flight attendants may call Crew Scheduling and drop a trip to downward project his/her block or drop via SAP.  Further, the AIL may be used to get to between 85-90 hrs.  Note: There is an agreement that an over-fly letter will not apply to the f/a that flies his/her awarded line which exceeds 90 hrs (created by the pilot scheduling committee) if he/she make no changes to such line. NOTE: This arrangement does not include over-projection from additional time like vacation and/or carryover time whereby the presence of such time in an awarded line creates a total value that exceeds 90. See page 9-5 starting on line 37 of the Contract.

SAP: ALL Bases open August 24th at 1800. PHL closes August 30th at 1800.  CLT and DCA close August 31st at 1800.  The SAP non-high option window is MAX of 90 and MIN of 60.  The SAP window has been expanded to allow for the oddity of the extra blocking windows shown above. Note: No protected holiday exists in October.

Secondary Lines for October: The Construction Blocking Minimum is70 hours.  The minimum has been lower to 70 hours to help create more secondary lines.  The Secondary lines will open September 08th at 1800 and close on September 13th at 1800.  Any Secondary lineholder (on a first come first service basis) that wishes more Company time (to a max of 90) may use the Secondary Line Augmentation process which opens on September 15th at 0700 and closes September  22nd at 1800 or he/she may use the AIL.

Reserves October: The maximum for the bid month will be 90 hrs; therefore, a reserve may call out of time at 85:01.

IT Lines With Line Lead-in Pairings – On WINGS you will find a permanent document explaining how having a line lead-in pairing works and why it happens.

SAP Guide: Recently Updated:  On WINGS-Go to In-Fight Services. (Electronic Library Section)-Reference Guides –SAP Guide.  Many new explanations and a section called “Other Things to Consider when SAPPING”.

Why Do the NON-LODO Positions Vary? Answer: There is no reduction related to the Pilot Permanent bid because the number of pilot lines, for October is exactly the same as September.   In October many transoceanic destinations are eliminated because seasonal flying is over and some TI destinations move from the A330 to the 76I.

After the pilot scheduling committee builds the number of lines required by their permanent bid the remaining “FAD-FAI-33F” open time” (left by the pilot scheduling committee) is made into “flight attendant only lines” whenever possible. This is never a consist number but a considerable amount of effort is expended to create additional primary lines for flight attendants that are not available for pilots in their primary bids.

Next, Crew Planners (in PHX) create extra flight attendant pairings which are made into 21M/7IM lines.  Therefore, the total Primary Non-LODO is a combination of the Pilot Permanent Bid figures plus the Flight Attendant Only Lines. The information shown below is compared to the NON-LODO bidding positions for September to October.

DCA: No Change-Primary lineholders 225,

CLT: Increases by 31 positions therefore; Primary NON-LODO lineholders for October equals 1323.

PHL: Decreases by 175 positions therefore; Primary NON-LODO lineholders for October equals 1318.

Note: Kathy Dege–Manager Crew Planning/Analysis- made the decision to send a lot more 21M flying to CLT.  In September the ratio of 21M/7IM flying time was about 95% to PHL and 5% to CLT.  For October, the ratio was switch to 69% to CLT and 31% to PHL.
