Dear Members,

SICK CALLS

The Company has advised the Union that effective today and throughout the Holiday period Schedulers will record a sick call and not patch a flight attendant into Inflight.

Schedulers are telling flight attendants the following:

"I've recorded your sick call. I have been requested to advise you that you are required to contact your InFlight Supervisor after this call."

Inflight Supervisors do have the right to require a Doctor's note.

Flight attendants have the following contractual rights (SECTION 8-5):

H.1. A doctor's statement may be requested for any sick occurrence in excess of four (4) occurrences during any continuous active twelve (12) month period.

2. Notwithstanding the above, the Company may require a physician's written confirmation of illness or injury or make personal inquiries of the type or nature of such illness or injury when a supervisor can demonstrate he/she has reasonable cause to believe that an individual flight attendant's use of sick leave may have been for other than legitimate reasons. Further, the cost of such physician's confirmation, pursuant to Paragraph H.1. above and this Paragraph, shall be borne by the Company with the understanding that a flight attendant may be required to see a physician of the Company's choice and at a time dictated by the Company.

This Eline is for informational purposes only, and does not, in any way, express agreement with the company's direction regarding Holiday sick calls. The Union reserves all rights and privileges under the Collective Bargaining Agreement to further investigate and pursue all available options to dispute the company's Holiday sick policy.

Thank you,

Mike Flores, President
The US Airways Master Executive Council
