Dear Members,

March 2012 Primary Lines: The Manager of Crew Scheduling, John Petronzi set the maximum in ALL bases at 85 hrs of Company time. The blocking objective was a flight attendant window of 70-85 hrs but the pilots can build them higher. If your line is above 85 review  the article titled Monthly Line Information on Wings. Go to the heading Lines and Pairings click on Bidding & Seniority Info-CLT/DCA/PHL. Under Recent Updates you will find Monthly Line Information.

SAP: PHL opens January 24th at 1800 and closes January 30th at 1800. CLT and DCA open January 24th at 1800 and closes January 31st at 1800.  The SAP non-high option window is MAX of 85 and MIN of 60. Note: No Protected Holiday in March.

Secondary Lines:  The lines will open February 7th at 1800 and close February 12th at 1800.  Any Secondary lineholder that wishes more Company time (to a max of 85) may use the Secondary Line Augmentation process which opens on February 14th and closes February 21st.

Reserves: The maximum for the bid month will be 85 hrs; therefore, a reserve may call out of time at 80:01.

TI Lines with Line Lead-ins: The Pilots Scheduling Committee built international lines with a blocking window of 70 to 89 and put in one day trips to meet the average they needed. In Primary Lines we cannot use this extended window because flight attendant Primary windows are 70-85, 75-90 and 80-95 by the CBA.  Further, we cannot add day trips to TI lines because of the LODO’s and different crew complements. Therefore, to make as many TI lines as possible inserting line lead- in (dummy time) trips was devised and put in the CBA.  Refer to the article on WINGS for a full explanation of the flexibility that exists when a line lead in trip is inserted and how line obligation works if you are awarded such a line. Remember: Each time a line lead-in pairing is utilized to bring up the value of a line you may utilize the provisions on page 9-28 line 24 of the Contract. Additionally, the Company and AFA concur that the protection associated with carry over trips, on 9-28 line 39, will also apply to a flight attendant that is automatically removed from a pairing in the new month because of a legality related to flying his/her last trip(s) of the old month.

Line Constructed Process: The Pilot Permanent bid for March increases numerous aircraft types.  Once the pilot scheduling committee builds the number of blocks required by their permanent bid the remaining "FAD-FAI-33F open time" (left by the pilot scheduling committee) is made into "flight attendant only lines". Additionally, the PHX Crew Planners create extra flight attendant pairings (i.e. 21M, 7IM). Once the 21M and 7IM pairings are completed they are built into lines then added to the Pilot Permanent Bid figures and number related to the Flight Attendant only lines. The results are listed below.  The information shown is compared to the NON-LODO bidding positions for February 2012.

DCA: Increases by 09 -Primary lineholders 219.

CLT: Increases by 82 positions - Primary NON-LODO lineholders equals 1414 for March 2012.

PHL: Decreases by 03 positions - Primary NON-LODO lineholders equals 1304 for March 2012.

Note: Manpower Planning in PHX to split the 21M flying about 56% to CLT and 44% to PHL.

To educate you on the process of building Primary Lines, this bid memo is written by Carol Austin - AFA Scheduling Chairperson and John Petronzi -Manager Flight Attendant Scheduling.
