Dear Members,

  • Council 66's "Seniority Exploratory Committee"

  • Accessing Wings

  • AFA Local Numbers

Council 66 (US Airways West) recently sent out an eline to their members stating they have appointed a "Seniority Exploratory Committee" in order to conduct research on possible options for the PHX based Flight Attendants. This committee was formed in light of the possible merger with American Airlines and at the behest of a number of their members.

The AFA Constitution and Bylaws is very clear on this issue and requires that Date of Hire be used for seniority integration between two AFA carriers. The East Master Executive Council firmly supports the AFA Constitution and Bylaws. We have a history of date of hire and with all our previous mergers and stand fully committed to the "date of hire" seniority integration process.

We feel that the West's "exploratory committee" is contrary to AFA's position on seniority integration and do not support its intent.

In Solidarity,

Your MEC Officers
