SPIRIT
FLIGHT ATTENDANTS SUPPORT PILOTS FIGHT FOR FAIR
CONTRACT
Washington, DC - Spirit Airlines flight
attendants, represented by the Association of
Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), today announced
their support for the carrier's pilots' fight
for a fair contract. In a Statement of Support,
the Spirit AFA-CWA Master Executive Council
(MEC) overwhelmingly pledged their support to
the pilots for a successful conclusion to
current negotiations.
"Spirit flight attendants are committed to
assisting our pilots in achieving the best
contract possible," stated the Spirit AFA-CWA
MEC.
"AFA-CWA is a
proactive labor organization rooted in the fight
for fair and equitable wages, benefits, and
working conditions and we will continue to
support our colleagues in their efforts to
achieve their goals."
Pilots at Spirit Airlines, represented by the
Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), officially
went on strike at 5:01 a.m. on Saturday, June
12. Spirit flight attendants have been in
negotiations since 2007 and are currently in
mediation.
For over 60 years, the Association of Flight
Attendants has been serving as the voice for
flight attendants in the workplace, in the
aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol
Hill. More than 50,000 flight attendants at 22
airlines come together to form AFA-CWA, the
world's largest flight attendant union. AFA is
part of the 700,000-member strong Communications
Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at
