TRAVEL BENEFITS FOR EXTENDED LEAVE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS AFFECTED
BY A POSSIBLE RECALL
Due to the possible recall of Extended Leave (EXL) Flight Attendants, the Union
wants to make you aware of the various travel programs that are available to EXL
Flight Attendants should such Flight Attendant not accept a recall opportunity
and choose to resign.
There are three types of travel programs available; two contractual provisions
and one Company program. All three options include any time spent on Voluntary
Furlough or Extended Leave.
CONTRACTUAL - 22.I.2
2. A flight attendant who has completed twenty five (25) years of service with
the Company as a flight attendant and has attained the age of forty five (45)
and who leaves the Company shall be eligible for on line passes in accordance
with Company policy as if he/she were still in an active status. When a flight
attendant under this Paragraph becomes eligible for and receives retirement
benefits, he/she shall be eligible for other travel benefits that are effective
under the retirement benefit program for flight attendants.
Known anecdotally as "25/45", this contractual provision includes the time spent
on Voluntary Furlough and the time spent on Extended Leave. Travel under this
provision is "as if he/she were still in an active status meaning the Boarding
Priority is S3.
CONTRACTUAL - 22.G.5
This section refers to Flight Attendants eligible to retire at age 55. If a
Flight Attendant chooses to retire at age 55 and has 5 years of service as a
Flight Attendant, such Flight Attendant is eligible for travel at the retiree
Boarding Priority of S4. Former Shuttle Flight Attendants are eligible to retire
at 52 and thusly are entitled to the same benefit when they reach age 52 with 5
years of service as a Flight Attendant. Any time spent on Voluntary Furlough or
Extended Leave is included in the calculation.
COMPANY - 65 POINT PLAN
An employee whose years of service and age add up to 65 is eligible for travel
at the retiree Boarding Priority of S4. Any time spent on Voluntary Furlough or
Extended Leave is included in the calculation.
*Please note with both the "25/45" and the 65 Point Plan other retiree
benefits are only available if you are eligible to retire.
Thank you,
Mike Flores, President
