Dear Members,

Torn/Shredding Continued

On September 22, 2009 I issued an E-Line that notified you that TwinHill had accepted responsibility for the tear/shredding lining and that you could return the item to your supervisor for replacement.

Fast forward to almost one month later and I am still going round and round with some of the incompetent members of corporate who are under the false impression that in-flight doesn't have to take any part in these returns just because TwinHill has accepted fault for the problem. They instead feel that you have nothing else going on in your incredibly active and very busy lives than to do their job on top of the so many that you do now for the company.

Well, this is to inform the purchasing department who handles the uniform orders that they can put down their mocha lattes and start recognizing that we have a contract and they don't get to pick and choose what parts of it that they want to follow and the ones that they don't. Whether or not TwinHill has accepted responsibility for this problem does not mean that flight attendants are now responsible for handling return orders and shipping issues. We are not here to do purchasing's job by maintaining inventory control and shipping.

TwinHill has notified the company that they will no longer accept the burden for cost of return and replacement of lining issue items after October 31, 2009. The company will have to take the burden as of November 01, 2009 and forward under the wear and tear policy. So, for all of you that are currently NOT being paid by the purchasing department and have responsibilities of your own you CAN return your lining issue items into the in-flight department for replacement with no further action on your part. Should your supervisor or a member of the crew service center refuse to take the item or tell you it is your responsibility to handle the return  please contact your local AFA Council office and report the incident with the name of the person who refused the item and the date of the return. As of November 01, 2009 and forward these returns fall under the wear and tear policy with replacements paid for by the company. An MEC Grievance under Section - 6 - Uniform will be filed.

As always Fly Fast and Fly Safe.
