Crew Accommodations Update March 2008

This is my promptness-challenged February newsletter. Thanks for your patience - I know many of you PHL International F/A's have been anxiously awaiting the company's decision on our new LHR property. We looked at 3 London properties and 3 Airport properties. It was AFA's position that an airport property would be wildly inappropriate for this overnight because it takes at least an hour and sometimes an hour and a half to get to and from Heathrow to the airport hotels which then have nothing to do and nowhere to do it. The company chose one of the two London hotels recommended by AFA. I will provide details about the hotel in the information newsletter that will be posted on the AFA boards in each domicile but, I wanted you all to know that we will be in a great location, across the street from a wonderful park near some fabulous department stores, hint, hint.

While we're on International hotels, we also did a site inspection in FRA. We looked at 4 hotels which were all (remember this phrase?) at the rate this company is willing to pay. None of these hotels were approved by AFA so the company has agreed to keep both crews as well as the third, seasonal crew at our incumbent hotel as long as we do not suffer interminable check-in waits in the morning upon arrival. If that starts to happen again, the company will pull at least one and possibly all three crews out and start at square one.

And speaking of bugs... I have too much information to include just now. My "All About Bedbugs" issue will be included in Buddy Brannon's MEC spring newsletter. I know how much you are all looking forward to it!

Next week, we will be doing a ORD long site inspection. This is very important to all of us and I will convey the many comments I have received from you all concerning the importance of remaining within the scope of our contract.

NOTE

On a personal note, I just wanted to thank everyone for the vast OF-310 etiquette improvement! Mommy is very proud of all of you. Seriously though, clear concise factual OF-310's without editorial comments are so much easier to just send right to the hotel and get immediate responses from. Along those lines, my committee members or I try to respond to all of your comments. Please keep in mind that if you do not include your e-mail address or phone number we have no way of contacting you so we assume you don't want a response. Our apologies if we have missed anyone. We are trying a new system and still ironing out some bugs.

Thank you again for your support. Your e-mails and calls have been very informative and helpful. I look forward to my April newsletter which will probably be arriving in May. Please note my new phone # (724) 719-0936
