RE:
SPLIT TRIPS
On
June 1, 1999 the company implemented the scheduling portion of the new
pilot contract. The pilot contract has some major changes in it and one
of those changes is SPLIT TRIPS. The language reads as follows:

Split Trips
1.
A pilot may not split a trip out of domicile unless for an emergency of
a personal nature, sick, legality purposes, at Company request, reserve
days off, or maximizing time.
2.
A pilot who splits a trip will be paid and credited as follow:
Duty rig ( 1 for 2, 1 for 1-3/4 ) shall apply only when the split is due
to an emergency of a personal nature, for reserve days off or to maximize
time.
VM rig (minimum day pay ) shall be adjusted to two hours and thirty minutes
(2:30) ( for US2 operations, 2:45 ) or actual time flown, whichever is
greater, for the day of the split. If the pilot split the trip for an emergency
of a personal nature, for reserve days off, or to maximize time , he shall
additionally be paid and credited any non-scheduled deadhead time generated
by splitting the trip.
Trip rig (1 for 3:30) shall also apply when the split is due to an emergency
of a personal nature, for reserve days off or to maximize time.
3.
A pilot who assumes a trip that was split by another pilot will be paid
and credited as follows:
The pilot's duty period for duty rig ( 1 for 2, 1 for 1-3/4 ) purpose will
be calculated using his actual on-duty time (including deadhead if applicable).
The pilot's VM rig (minimum day pay) will be adjusted to two hours and
thirty minutes (2:30) (for US2 operations, 2:45) or actual time flown (including
deadhead) in the split duty period, whichever is greater. For subsequent
completed duty periods, the VM rig shall apply.
The pilot's trip rig ( 1 for 3:30 ) will be calculated using his actual
trip time (including deadhead if applicable).
The
company believes that this language falls under the ME-TOO category of
our agreement. The AFA disagrees. Until the Company and the AFA settle
this matter we advise you to do the following:
