IAM Update

October 1, 1999:

Your AFA leaders feel it important to clarify the IAM situation.  Remember 
that the IAM membership is in the process of ratifying their tentative 
agreement.  Therefore, you must remain informed as the potential for a strike 
still exists.  As soon as we are advised of the outcome of the membership 
ratification (approximately October 5th), we will inform you.

If they strike, the AFA MEC will confer with the Int'l president to determine 
whether or not to honor their picket line, which would mean to engage in a 
"sympathy strike."  In the event AFA decides to engage in a sympathy strike, 
we will provide you with a "script" to use when speaking to US Airways 
representatives. 

Please rely on the AFA Hotline for this information.  Stay informed by 
calling on a daily basis.

Remember, AFA has not yet determined whether or not to honor an IAM strike. 
Until that time occurs, you are to report to work as usual.
